In a lecture Randy Udall gave months before his untimely death in 2013, he raised the following question:
Can you have cretaceous carbon without have a cretaceous climate? Again, this period in Earth’s history was very warm and sea levels were very high compared to where they are today, hundreds feet higher. The North Pole was as warm as Denver.
